Nuclear Decommissioning
CVD are actively involved the the decommissioning process for the UK's nuclear power stations.

CVD successfully carried out the first dry wire concrete cutting project in a nuclear environment in the UK.
The work was completed 3 months ahead of schedule, as a direct result of CVD's innovative methodology and our highly trained and motivated staff.
The entire £2.75 million contract is being carried out by Edmund Nuttall Ltd, with sub-contract work being carried out by JGC Engineering and Technical Services Ltd, RWE Nukem Ltd, Environmental Reclamations services Ltd, and Clyde Valley Drilling as sole concrete cutting providers.

The work involved removing 120 metres of a fifty-year old duct, by wire sawing into sections for disposal.

The work was carried out by operators working in air-line suits, under a strict radiological
monitoring regime, within a radiological containment.
