Clyde Valley Drilling Blasts Competition
Organisation wins top business award.

The Clyde Valley Drilling Group has won a top Scottish business award for its acclaimed IT system. The Eurocentral based company picked up the E-Business Award at the final of the Enterprising Scotland Awards 2006, which took place on Friday the 23rd at the Glasgow Hilton.

The award recognises the implementation of digital technologies by organisations to change the way they do business, and to improve the overall business performance. CVD has been praised for its IT system, for which it picked up a Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire Award earlier this year. The state-of-the-art, pioneering system integrates plant tracking software, financial systems, satellite tracking, job control, and a bespoke CRM and task management system in order to maximise efficiency within the company.

“We are delighted to have won his prestigious award,” commented Owen Barrett, MD of CVD. “We are on track to save around £300,000 this year through the controls and systems introduced by the IT system. The team here at CVD has really embraced the technology – which is why it is proving to be so effective.”

Since the company first began trading in 1995, it has grown to a turnover of £5 million and has established itself as the authority in diamond drilling, concrete sawing, cutting and finishing services, and fire protection.

The winners of all 9 categories have the opportunity to go on a Learning Journey to the USA. Sponsored by Microsoft, the trip will allow the winners to meet fellow business people, and to learn from global companies who have reached the top of their field. They will visit the West coast of America, including San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and lastly, Seattle.

CVD are also finalists for two awards at The National Business Awards for Scotland 2006, sponsored by Orange. The winners of The Orange Best Use of Technology in Business Award and The Oracle Business Innovation of the Year Award will be announced on the 14th of September.
