Clyde Valley Drilling is recognised as the expert in the delivery of professional diamond drilling, diamond concrete sawing and concrete cutting and finishing services throughout the UK.

Established ten year’s ago by Managing Director Owen Barrett, CVD has a turnover of £5 million and a staff of seventy-five. The organisation recently moved to custom built state-of-the-art headquarters in Eurocentral, which were officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal on Wednesday 26th April. This move represents an investment in excess of £2 million, plus job creation in the former jobs black spot of North Lanarkshire.

The company’s success is based upon hi-tech cost effective drilling and cutting systems ensuring speed and accuracy from start to finish. The skill and techniques developed also reduce the noise, dust, hazards and vibration associated with the more traditional methods of concrete drilling and cutting.

Diamond Drilling & Coring Services

Diamond drilling is recognised as the cleanest method for making penetrations for services in concrete, brick, natural stone and tile. A core diamond drill bit consists of a steel tube with diamond segments brazed or welded on the drilling end and mounted on a rotating shaft.

Using both rig mounted and hand held equipment, diamond drilling ensures a smooth circular cut and is commonly used to create openings for plumbing, heating, electrical or ventilation requirements. As diamond drilling tubes operate with a water feed through the driving shaft to keep the diamonds cool, it also ensures the cutting area is free of grit and dust.

Diamond Concrete Sawing

Diamond concrete sawing is used to cut concrete and stonework and CVD’s expertise includes the following:

• Hand Held Sawing – simple and fast
• Track Sawing – Powerful method of cutting reinforced concrete to provide openings
• Diamond Wire Sawing – is a technically advanced and very precise method of cutting concrete
• Dry Diamond Wire Sawing – reinforced concrete does not require water to cool and lubricate the cut
• Corner Sawing – is an extension of track sawing to create perfect corners without an overcut
• Sword Sawing – is a means of plunge cutting to create square corners
• Floor Saw – is an electrical or diesel powered machine which makes cuts in concrete floors or roadways
• Diamond Chasing – cuts channels in concrete to lay cable trays for building services

Controlled Demolition

A fleet of demolition robots are operated by CVD’s skilled and accredited team. Various sizes are available to deal with any situation. Hand Held Crunchers are used to crack concrete and rock to enable manual handling, while Handheld Bursting uses an electrical motor to force apart powerful jaws inside pre drilled holes.

Surface Preparation

CVD provide all forms of surface preparation, including reduction of floor levels, removal of paint and coatings, scarifying, grinding, planning, keying, bonding, polishing, scabbing, surface blasting, texturing and profiling of concrete and metal surfaces.

Utilising professional grinding systems for concrete, natural stone and terrazzo as well as cleaning, is exclusive to CVD in Scotland and the north of England.

CVD Fire Protection

The Fire Protection Division of the group provides a full range of passive fire stopping and fire protection services. This includes fire stopping to service penetration and voids; fire protection to steelwork and internal smoke and fire barriers.

Concrete Scanning

CVD can offer the services of a fast one man operated state of the art scanner offering on the spot high resolution imaging of rebar to a depth of 180mm.
