CVD Black Diamond Ball Update

NEWS RELEASE: Friday 25th May 2007

LANARKSHIRE FIRM RAISES OVER £28,000
FOR ANTHONY NOLAN TRUST

cvd bearThe national leukemia charity, the Anthony Nolan Trust, has benefited to the tune of £28,000 thanks to the efforts of Clyde Valley Drilling (CVD) Ltd, the Lanarkshire-based diamond drilling company.

CVD raised the staggering amount after holding a raffle and auction at its 10th anniversary ball which was held on Saturday 19th May 2007, and to add a bit of sparkle to the proceedings CVD commissioned a rare black diamond necklace.

Valued at £5,000 the necklace was raffled off in aid of the Anthony Nolan Trust, the national charity that is committed to taking back lives from leukemia.

The Anthony Nolan Trust works to provide and maintain a register of bone marrow donors and since its launch in 1974 it has saved over 4,000 people from Leukemia and given them a second chance. In order to continue with its work the charity must raise over £20 million in UK every year.

Owen Barrett, managing director of CVD Ltd, said:

“When we first started organising the Black Diamond Ball we hoped to raise somewhere in the region of £12,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust but to have raised £28,000 is just remarkable.

“I’m extremely grateful to all those who came along and supported us on the night and we fully intend to continue to support the Anthony Nolan Trust and help it to carry out its lifesaving work.”

Lindsay MacCallum, regional fundraising manager for the Anthony Nolan Trust, added:

“It is our aim to offer patients in the UK and around the world, hope and the chance of a successful bone marrow transplant and the money that CVD raised will help us to do just that. Without the generosity and support from people like Owen and his staff we wouldn’t be able to continue providing the care and support that we do.”
