Concrete Polishing
Two prestigious concrete polishing contracts have recently been successfully completed by Clyde Valley Drilling.
The first project was in the entrance foyer of the stunning new Air Traffic Control Tower at Edinburgh International Airport for Laing O’Rourke and B.A.A.
After initial meetings to demonstrate the appearance and practicality of polished concrete, CVD were fully involved in the concrete design, method of placement and programming of the works.

The concrete used was an ordinary prescribed mix using O.P.C. and natural riverbed aggregates.
When fully polished the slab provides a beautiful and practical hard wearing floor finish which perfectly suits this modern, functional building.
The second project was for a private client in Edinburgh where the concrete floor is an integral part of the design for the kitchen and living area.
Several test mixes were prepared and polished. The selected mix incorporated white cement, white sand and a cream limestone aggregate. CVD oversaw the concrete pour to ensure the workmanship and concrete consistency was correct, as this is key to achieving an excellent final appearance.
The client was so pleased with the result that he decided to carry out the same process on the external patio and stairways.
The finished kitchen floor and patio area integrate perfectly and impressively enhanced the overall project concept.
The success of both these projects demonstrates the key role of CVD becoming involved early in the project. We bring together unique knowledge of concrete technology, methods of placement, compaction and industry leading experience in concrete grinding and polishing.
